Two Club Industry Articles

It was an honor to be considered an expert in the wellness industry and asked to contribute in two Club Industry articles. Club Industry is the gold standard when it comes to gym and health club news.

My Two Appearances in Club Industry

Health Clubs Find Revenue Streams in Technology-Oriented Ancillary Services

Cryotherapy

The trend toward recovery offerings has led to a growing number of clubs adding services such as cryotherapy, according Skyler Scarlett, owner of Glace Cryotherapy in Mountain View, California. Since late 2017, Scarlett and his sister, Brittney Scarlett-Torres, have been running Glace in a space it leases in a City Sports club in Mountain View, California. (City Sports Club is owned by Fitness International LLC, which also owns LA Fitness.)

“If you're an athlete, you're releasing inflammation, but you're probably releasing way too much, more than your body needs,” Scarlett said. “A lot of times, the pain you have in your knee or your neck, it's simply way too much inflammation, and [clients] can't believe how much better they feel when they reduce that inflammation.”

Missouri State Keeping Quiet After Student Athletes Were Injured During Cryotherapy Sessions

Skyler C. Scarlett, CEO of Glace Cryotherapy Inc., Mountain View, California, has administered more than 30,000 cryotherapy sessions with only two minor incidents. He was not involved in the Missouri State incident, but he told Club Industry on June 27 that protecting a client’s feet is paramount when administering cryotherapy.

"Every time I first have a client, I look at their feet," Scarlett said. "They need socks and slippers. I make sure they have both. ... These guys may have got in with wet socks or no socks at all. When we have new clients, they are so excited and nervous that 80 to 90 percent of them may forget to have shoes or socks on, or [may forget they have on] a piece of jewelry. I always check you over, especially if there's a big group to manage, one after another."

Do you ever find yourself struggling to make big decisions for your cryotherapy business, with no idea where to turn for advice? Entrepreneurs in the wellness industry have to juggle everything from marketing to research and development to management, and trying to do it all can be taxing! But by hiring consultants with industry expertise like Skyler Scarlett, you can get the insights you need to take your business to new heights. Here are a few consultants that any cryotherapy entrepreneur might be interested in working with. Industry Veteran Sometimes, you can turn to a consultant who specializes in one area of general business operations - but at other times, you need somebody who knows your industry inside and out. For instance, if you run a cryotherapy center, you’ll want to hire a consultant who understands every aspect of this unique, growing industry! You can ask all of your questions about new trends, best practices, industry regulations, and more. Financial Advisor Maybe you’re wondering how to allocate your funding for the most impact, or perhaps you need help creating financial projections for the coming year. Or maybe you want to choose a business entity, or switch to a new one! If any of these scenarios seem relatable, you might want to bring a financial advisor on board. For instance, lots of businesses benefit from filing for LLC status, and a financial advisor can help you decide if this is the right choice for your company. You’ll want to check out your state’s specific filing requirements before you start gathering your documents. Using an online formation service rather than hiring a lawyer for assistance can save you money. Bear in mind that if you do choose an LLC, California requires business owners to submit a Statement of Information every year, and this is similar to an annual report. If the documents are not filed, a fine may be levied or your business could be suspended. Marketing Expert Need help marketing your products and reaching entirely new customers? Square2Marketing states that a marketing consultant can support your team as they find new ways to drive traffic, improve your company’s SEO rankings, and nurture leads. If you find that your traffic has been dropping, or you wonder if you’re underutilizing certain marketing channels, a marketing consultant can help you target various areas for improvement. IT Specialist Today, businesses rely on technology more than ever before - but as an entrepreneur, you might not be a natural tech whiz! In fact, sometimes you probably feel confused by your company’s tech systems and tools, and when you have problems with your equipment or software, you may not know how to address the issues on your own. That’s when you need to call an IT consultant! Rather than trying to fix complicated tech problems by yourself, an IT consultant can remedy these issues with efficiency. Human Resources Consultant Are you wondering what you can do to improve your company’s human resources department and create a better experience at work for your team? An HR consultant can advise you! Dube Consulting states that an HR consultant can help you speed up your screening and onboarding processes, boost your recruiting efforts so that you can find top talent, ensure that your HR department is complying with all necessary regulations, and assist you as you grow your team to serve more customers. Some HR consultants specialize in certain areas, so before you hire a particular consultant, make sure that they have experience in the areas that you’re concerned about. Working with a great consultant is a smart investment. Sometimes, just a few days with a consultant can help you take your company in a whole new direction. By working with a consultant, you can confidently take the steps that your business needs to thrive. Seeking an expert consultant for your cryotherapy business? "Cryo Wellness Owners Club Only" is a Facebook Group that consists of business owners only. It's an amazing group of cryo owners looking to help each other out. I do my best to post content that I feel can help owners be more successful. I routinely highlight different ways cryotherapy owners can fix up their business models. I focuses a lot on what kind of lead generation actually works for cryotherapy companies. It's a great place to ask owners questions and for feedback on the different equipment that circulates around our industry .

The odds of getting an airdate on ABC Shark Tank are not good. In fact each year around 50,000 companies will apply for the chance to not only pitch the Sharks but end up with the golden ticket, airtime for themselves and their businesses on national TV in front on millions of viewers. So if the odds are better for getting into both Harvard and Stanford, how in the world did I get myself and cryotherapy on to Shark Tank twice?

Creating and then selling a business is one of the most rewarding experiences an entrepreneur can ever have. My sister and I created a cryotherapy and wellness model that was so appreciated that other people wanted to buy it.
